Most of my adult life I carried a sketch book with me to use in those precious times when raising 4 children and being a full time real estate broker was not engulfing me. Once my children were grown and I had retired (by then I was in my 60’s) I finally was able to give time and energy to my artistic passions. I have taken community college classes, workshops and classes in drawing and painting.
My first creative “era” involved exploring watercolor techniques, with the natural beauty of the Central Coast my subject and inspiration. During those years I participated in Open Studios. When the work I was doing began to feel tame and familiar, I moved into watercolor abstracts, using bold techniques and vivid colors. Following a brief excursion into collage, I have happily settled into an acrylic “era.” I am currently working on a series of semi-abstract female figures, still excited about exploring striking and unexpected color compositions. I take my inspiration for the figures wherever it strikes me…from family photos to magazine ads to images by master photographers.
